 Why Non-Nano Zinc Oxide?

We're proud to say that our formula contains the safest UV filter for both humans and marine life.

Non-nano zinc oxide particles are larger than 100 nanometers, meaning that they are too large to penetrate the skin's surface and be absorbed into the bloodstream. This makes it a safer option than nano zinc-oxide, whose particles are small enough to be absorbed into the body.

Similarly, marine life cannot ingest non-nano zinc oxide particles since they are larger than 100 nanometers.

How Does Zinc Oxide Work?

Zinc oxide is a mineral (aka physical) sunscreen that forms a protective barrier on the skin's surface, reflecting and scattering the sun's rays to prevent them from penetrating the skin. Think of it as a shield sitting on top of the skin.
